I am really excited about this. Between Bantam and Del Rey we have over thirty years of fun and exciting Star Wars novels available in print. I do my best to keep up to date with the current books, but I have to admit there are titles on the back list I have yet to read but really want to. So I decided it was time we start a Star Wars Reader’s Club so I can read these books along with you and then we can discuss them together. Each month I will select a book from the back list and announce it as the choice. After a few weeks I’ll begin to post discussion questions and anyone who has either already read the book or is reading it for the first time can participate in the discussion. All of this fun will take place on our Facebook page, Star Wars Books (please LIKE us now if you haven’t already).

The first official selection in the Star Wars Reader’s Club is Star Wars: The Bounty Hunter Wars: The Mandalorian Armor by K.W. Jeter. The book was initially published in June 1998 and is the first book in The Bounty Hunter Wars trilogy. The events in the book are set shortly after Star Wars: Episode VI: Return of the Jedi. Here is a brief description of the book:

He’s the most feared and successful bounty hunter in the galaxy. He is Boba Fett, and even the most hardened criminals tremble at his name. Now he faces the deadliest challenge of his infamous career–an all-out war against his most dangerous enemies.

As the Rebellion gathers force, Prince Xizor proposes a cunning plan to the Emperor and Darth Vader: smash the power of the Bounty Hunters Guild by turning its members against each other. Only the strongest and most ruthless will survive, and they can be used against the Rebellion. It’s a job for the fiercely independent Boba Fett, who jumps at the chance to destroy his rivals. But Fett soon realizes the game is rigged, as he finds himself the target of murderous factions, criminal conspiracies, and the evil at the Empire’s dark heart. Boba Fett has always finished first. And in this game, anything less is death.

I hope you join our club and I look forward to some fun discussions in the future. See you on our Facebook page.

  • This is an awesome idea. There are so many fans that are arriving new to the Expanded Universe. With the amount of Star Wars books now in print, it can be overwhelming deciding where to start—should a reader pick from the very beginning or would they feel more comfortable jumping in with one of the newer series: Legacy of the Force or Fate of the Jedi?

A book club would definitely help break the ice and alleviate some confusion.

    Great job, Suvudu! 🙂

I have been meaning to start reading starwars novels for some time now but I am not sure where to start. So suggestions would be much appreciated.
