Conan O’Brien Presents ‘Wes Anderson’s Star Wars’

Late night talk show host and famous geek Conan O’Brien rolled out a pretty funny bit depicting Star Wars as if it was directed by quirky director Wes Anderson (Rushmore, The Royal Tenenbaums, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, Moonrise Kingdom, etc.). I’m a big fan of Star Wars and Anderson and was surprised to see how genuinely amusing the thing turned out. It reminded me a bit of those “Sweded” fan movies you find on YouTube. The guy playing Han Solo nails Jason Schwartzman’s delivery.

Things like this remind me of what an endless well Star Wars really is: There’s always more to explore. If we’ve got a modern American mythology, it’s Star Wars. Great stuff.

Speaking of which, The Star Wars Essential Reader’s Companion is out now. Have you gotten a copy yet? I got to flip through a copy at NYCC and interviewed Pablo Hidalgo and Jeff Carlisle. Those guys are serious fans, and it shows. That book is a work of art.
