Let’s Talk: The Wolverine (2013)

wolverine102919236I just saw the trailer for the new film The Wolverine, and man, I’m pretty stoked about it. I thought that I was done with the world of the X-Men (I really didn’t care for the last two films – I know, everyone else loved First Class. Shoot me.), but The Wolverine has me ready to jump back into the Marvel Universe and soak up some *SNIKT* action.

From what it looks like, Wolverine is going to be deprived of his healing factor. I think this is a great move as far as retaining the audience’s interest in the story. Wolverine is awesome and all, but who wants to watch a movie about a guy who (for the most part) can’t be killed? It’ll bring some dramatic tension.

What I’m wondering about is if this film will bring our friend Logan the same kind of name recognition among the general public that Iron Man currently enjoys. I know plenty of people who don’t know the first thing about comic books but still love Iron Man. Could this be Wolverine’s opportunity to jump from fan favorite to instantly recognizable pop culture icon?

What do you guys think? Are you planning on checking the movie out?
