Poll: Do You Like Leatherbound Books?

paolini-eragon10The 10th Anniversary of Eragon by Christopher Paolini is now published!

I cannot believe how time has passed—so quickly it is almost painful. I first met Christopher before Random House published the hardcover of his debut book, having reached out to the young writer after reading an ARC. Since that time, we have been friends. And during the more than ten years between, I’ve been able to watch him write and finish one of the most read fantasy series of all time.

To celebrate those years and Christopher’s many successes, Random House has published a collector’s edition of the first book. The 10th Anniversary Edition of Eragon is a beautiful volume, leatherbound, and features new interior art from some of today’s best artists.

Here is a bit more about Eragon:

In honor of the 10th Anniversary of Eragon, a special edition of the runaway bestseller with a blue faux leather cover, six pieces of exclusive artwork from award-winning artists and the author and a new essay from Christopher about how art has inspired his work.

Ten years ago, fans first met Eragon—Shadeslayer, Dragon Rider. A decade and four books later, readers are as enthusiastic as ever. This 10th-anniversary edition celebrates the journey that Eragon, Christopher Paolini, and his millions of fans have all made together.

This edition features six glossy, full-color original illustrations by award-winning artists John Jude Palencar (original artist of the Inheritance Cycle book covers), Michael Hague, Donato Giancola, Ciruelo Cabral, and Raoule Vitale, as well as Christopher Paolini himself. Christopher worked with all artists, giving his insight when needed. In addition, the book features an essay written by Christopher reflecting on this tenth anniversary milestone and on the artists who have inspired his work on the Inheritance Cycle and beyond.

The blue faux-leather cover features new artwork by Ciruelo Cabral. As I said, I love leatherbound books and this edition of Eragon will be put on my shelves. I have a dream of owning leatherbound editions of all my favorite books one day, bookcases of them.

Would make for one helluva library!
