First Look At Bryan Lee O’Malley’s ‘Seconds’ SDCC Limited Editions

San Diego Comic Con offers so much to enjoy: Star-studded discussion panels and autograph sessions, sneak previews of all of all the hottest movies, television programs, and games, and of course, plenty of exclusive, limited edition merchandise that you just can’t find anywhere else, like two special editions of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World creator Bryan Lee O’Malley’s new graphic novel Seconds.

O’Malley’s fans have their choice of either a lettered or numbered edition – or if they’re extremely lucky (and extremely dedicated), they can get both!

The lettered edition is limited to only 26 copies. Each is signed by the author and features a unique sketch. The book is packaged in a beautiful clamshell case, and will be available for purchase for $250. The numbered edition is limited to 250 copies, and is packaged in a high quality slipcase. It, too, is signed by O’Malley, and will be available for $125.

9780553394368_p0_v3_s600Not going to make it to SDCC? Not a problem! You can still get the regular edition of Seconds as well as a Barnes & Noble Special Edition, featuring an exclusive yellow book jacket.

Seconds is the story of Katie, a young, successful chef and restaurateur who finds her professional and personal life on the rocks after a string of mishaps. With a love affair gone sour, an ex-boyfriend back in the picture, and a struggling business venture just about to slip under, Katie needs a re-do, and quick. Unfortunately, second chances aren’t so easy to find.

That’s when the mysterious stranger appears: the girl with the mushrooms and directions for a do-it-yourself do-over:

1. Write your mistake
2. Ingest one mushroom
3. Go to sleep
4. Wake anew

Katie takes her second chance, and just like that, things are back on track. Life is good again, but why settle for good when you can go for perfect? She’s been warned not to try, but what’s the worst that could possibly happen when you’ve got a drawer full of magic mushrooms?

Both books will be available for your perusal on the exhibitor floor at San Diego Comic Con. Look for them at the Ballantine Books booth, and while you’re there, be sure to get a schedule of other signings and author appearances!
