About Side Jobs:

With tales ranging from the deadly serious to the absurdly hilarious — including an original story for this volume — Side Jobs is a must-have collection for every devoted Harry Dresden fan.

As Chicago’s only professional wizard, Harry Dresden has had cases that have pitted him against insane necromancers, power-hungry faerie queens, enigmatic dark wizards, fallen angels—pretty much a “who’s who” of hell and beyond—with the stakes in each case ranging from a lone human soul to the entire human race. But not every adventure Harry Dresden undertakes is an epic tale of life and death in a world on the edge of annihilation.

Here, together for the first time in paperback and ebook, are the shorter works of #1 New York Times bestselling author Jim Butcher — a compendium of cases that Harry and his cadre of allies managed to close in record time.

“One of the giants of urban fantasy… delivers some great stories in this volume… This is a great collection, featuring a hero who’s proven himself over and over again, as well as delving into the odd corners of his fascinating and fantastic world. Highly recommended.” — SFRevu

Short Stories Are A Great Way To Expand A Universe

Most people know about Harry Dresden. If you don’t, you need to pick up a copy of Storm Front.

But for those of you who have read the Dresden Files, you know how complex and intriguing Jim Butcher’s worldbuilding has become over the years. Harry Dresden is a great character and the trouble he gets into is of an epic sort, but as Harry has traveled through the various other worlds that surround our own, Butcher has expanded into realms that deserve more attention, attention that sometimes a novel cannot provide by itself.

Enter the fantasy short story, that wonderful creation that allows an author to explore areas of their world in more depth without having to devote an entire novel to it.

Butcher has been great at this over the last few years. He has written about two dozen short stories for various anthologies and the like. He published Side Jobs as a way to collect the early ones. But that published back in 2011 and since then Butcher has added a whole new swath of Dresden Files short stories &mdahs; two of which I’ve even published in anthologies Unbound and Unfettered II. This newest batch of short stories since 2011 will be compiled in Brief Cases, publishing next year.

What has he done with these stories? Some are from Harry’s point of view. But my favorites are from the point of views of characters that Harry has interacted with at various points in his history. I love reading from different perspectives and Butcher is great at bringing those voices to life.

Side Jobs is available now in ebook for $1.99! Perfect reading for Harry Dresden files fans as well as people who want to try Butcher for the first time!
