Books Based on James Cameron’s AVATAR Coming Soon


James Cameron’s AVATAR universe is coming back in a big way. This just in from our friends at Penguin Random House:

NEW YORK, NY – December 6, 2017 – Penguin Random House, the world’s largest commercial trade publishing house, announced this week that it will partner with Lightstorm Entertainment and 20th Century Fox Consumer Products on a worldwide publishing deal for AVATAR and the four upcoming film sequels.  Working hand-in-hand with visionary director James Cameron, Penguin Random House will develop and release a wide range of books across adult and children’s formats, in multiple territories and languages across the world.

The unprecedented partnership will work to expand and enrich the AVATAR universe through a multiyear publishing strategy that will begin during the lead-up to AVATAR 2 and continue through and beyond the release of AVATAR 5. Initial titles will release under the U.S. and British Commonwealth publishing teams of Del Rey Books, Random House Children’s Books, Cornerstone Publishing, Dorling Kindersley, and Penguin Random House Children’s UK, with additional territories and imprints to follow. Audiobook editions will be published by Penguin Random House Audio.

Released in 2009, James Cameron’s AVATAR is the highest-grossing film in motion picture history, with a box office gross of nearly $2.8 billion.  Mesmerizing all ages across the globe with its otherworldly visuals and groundbreaking special effects, the film quickly became a worldwide phenomenon so popular it will be followed by four sequels, with the first sequel due for release on December 18, 2020.  AVATAR was named best picture at the Golden Globe Awards and won numerous Academy Awards®.
